About Me
I’m Samuel. I work as a Developer Advocate at Redis, which is a slightly fancy way of saying I sit between the people building tools and the people using them, and try to make that space less lonely. Most of my time goes into AI systems like agents, memory, and retrieval: the wiring underneath the demos. I live in Bishopton, a small town just outside Glasgow.
The work splits, roughly, into teaching and tinkering, and the two feed each other. I write, record, speak, and build courses; in the background I’m almost always pulling something apart: an agent architecture, a developer tool, a piece of infrastructure I don’t yet trust myself to explain. I’m less interested in selling people a tool than in helping them see how it works, where it breaks, and when it’s the wrong choice for the job. There are plenty of confident voices online. I’d rather hand you a map than a slogan.
Outside the work, life is smaller and slower. I’m married to Blessing, I love conversation, and I love getting to know people properly. I’m currently turning a garage in Bishopton into a home office and recording studio: sage green walls, dark wood, a bit of brass. I started a podcast called Stories That Shape Us because I love conversations, and even though it’s paused, that part of me is still very alive.
